HELIX: Tentative Album Title Announced
May 17, 2009Canadian hard rock veterans HELIX have set "It's Rock Science, NOT Rocket Science!" as the tentative title of their new album, due before the end of the year. Songtitles set to appear on the CD include "The Animal Inside", "When The Bitter's Got The Better Of You", "Sticks & Stones" and "Vagabond Bones". Also included on the LP will be a cover of the AC/DC classic "It's a Long Way To The Top If You Wanna Rock And Roll" featuring the "No Rest For The Wicked"-era (1983) lineup of HELIX — Brian Vollmer on vocals, Brent Doerner on guitar, Mike Uzilac on bass, and Greg "Fritz" Hinz on drums. The track, which will also appear on an AC/DC tribute CD being released through Perris Records, was engineered by Aaron McMurray and features a guest appearance by THE MUDMEN and Steve Georgakopoulos, who played on the last two HELIX CDs.
HELIX will close this year's London Music Awards on Wednesday, June 10 at 7 p.m. at the London Music Hall. Filling in for guitarist Jim Lawson for the London Music Awards performance will be Gene Scarpelli, son of the legendary Gino Scarpelli, formerly of the band GODDO. Tickets are available at the Grand Theatre box office, by phone at 1-800-265-1593 and online at GrandTheatre.com.
